"It takes a generation"

A generation may seem like a long time, but if we had started some of these measures when Roosevelt arrived we would already be almost 10 years in.
 
And a lot of 10 year olds would be doing better.

    Teachers make a difference, communities make a difference, parents make a difference.

    "Programs like Nurse-Family Partnerships and the Baby College in the Harlem Children’s Zone seem to be able to teach ... parenting skills."

    Hopefully some of the early childhood funds will go to help parents learn to extend and enhance what children are learning in their preschool classrooms.
