Although we would like to foster constructive dialogue, PURE Reform does not edit content. The views expressed by bloggers in this forum are not necessarily views held by PURE Reform.

"Lane, 61, of Highland Park said one of her first priorities will be to talk with people in the community to inform them of several initiatives she has in mind.
"There's no point in deciding things and then going out and gathering the data later," she said."
Lather rinse repeat. She never had time to meet with fellow admin staff when she was "just the assistant". She is a lot like Mr. Roosevelt, she views herself above others.
She is very guarded, sharp, and I am unsure if she has an empathatic bone in her body.
"Lane, 61, of Highland Park said one of her first priorities will be to talk with people in the community to inform them of several initiatives she has in mind"
Promising? No, she is going to talk/"inform" the community about decisions that have already been made. She has no intention on listening. It is sad that ths is seen as promising.
If Lane learned anything from Roosevelt, it's the need to be public relations savvy. What we have in store is more of the same and a city that continues to bleed while those in charge misidentify the problem and proclaim, all is well.
The quote does say- to inform them of initiatives "she has in mind." That sounds like initiatives she is still considering, and that she is informing people of them in time to get feedback. Why not give her a chance?
I agree Questioner that Dr. Lane has to be given a chance.
She is closer to the classroom than Mr. Roosevelt was and I believe her experience there will inform her decisions as much as, or more than, anything else.
I wonder what the foundations are thinking at this point. At the risk of sounding insensitive, Lane/Hazuda looks very different from Roosevelt/Isler. Are L/H just placeholders, or will they last more than 2 years?
Also, has anyone heard anything about Isler running again, or who else might run for his seat?
She's from the Broad School, she will be just like Roosevelt. Why do you think the Board hired her with out considering any one else. They Believe in Eli Broad's way, not the right way to run a school district. This might have been comming down the pike, maybe she knew MR was leaving. Why did she turn down the Job in Idaho. Suspect! Everything our school board does is Suspect thanks to MR.

We deserve more as a community.

She said "inform," not "solicit feedback" or "have a conversation" -- sounds bureaucratic and imperious to me.
She also said, "There's no point in deciding things and then going out and gathering the data later,"
Which means informing before deciding, which is at least the reverse of what's been happening for the last 5 years.
Of course, you may well be right, but now she's it and that's all we've got to work with!
