Superintendent travel expenses

I seriously doubt this little old lady sitting at her desktop typing on an twenty-year-old Dell keyboard will have any impact to negotiations, but curiosity got the best of me and I had to go looking for the story referenced above about travel. Sorry to lack the control needed to post this at a later date, say once contracts are signed. Seriously, Dude? Dublin? You can bet somebody will go look at the request made to approve that and listen to a board meeting where it was discussed. Looking forward to seeing the tangible results of these trips "

Superintendent Hamlet defends the $300,000 spent per year on travel expenses. He says that it's important that the big shots attend fancy conferences and workshops. Really? This is 2018, not 1918. Responsible executives teleconference.

Irresponsible executives spend money that is not theirs to go on thinly disguised vacations.

These trips are outrageous and wasteful. At first, I wondered how the board approved this but I see that Regina Holley and others also had their junkets. They really have gone too far.

Well, I told my sister about this and she at first said it didn't matter to her since her kids had graduated, when she thought about it she changed her mind. Does Auditor General DePasquale read this blog? Just wondering what other PA districts made trips like this. Just wondering if good 'ol Betsy D. would point to spending on overseas travel as a reason to cut education funding, saying, "Gee, if districts can afford to spend on travel maybe they need to look at budgets and make some changes."

Just heard a note on TV that "back in the day"-- Schenley and Westinghouse were the best public funded schools IN THE COUNTRY-- perhaps because ed $$ went to hmm education.

Let's get one thing straight: there are no big shots from this district.

Just an FYI, I attended an event today and this is still a topic being discussed with head shaking and sighs.

Why did they not mention the principal that took his wife and kids, the social worker and her husband that went, and the curriculum coach that spent most of the time posting pictures in the pub? The superintendent didn't go.
