Jerri Lynn Lippert, the chief academic officer of Pittsburgh Public Schools, will become the new superintendent of the West Allegheny School District.

The West Allegheny School Board voted Wednesday to approve her appointment, effective July 1, according to a statement released by Pittsburgh Public Schools announcing that Lippert has accepted the position. The city school board is scheduled to vote to accept her resignation next week.

“This is a well-deserved opportunity for Dr. Lippert,” Pittsburgh Public Schools Superintendent Linda Lanes said. “Dr. Lippert will truly be missed, and we know she will be a great leader for the students and families of the West Allegheny School District.”

I feel like I'm living in some sort of bizarro world. Isn't anyone at West Allegheny aware of the chaos, and the complete lack of progress, during Lippert's time at PPS?

It's all just too crazy.

Thank you, Lord. Finally. A break for PPS students and staff.

In my heart, I felt that she understood the value of sports and could have been a big champion to turn that enterprise around.

When it came to deeds, I'm glad I didn't hold my breath.

West Allegheny has a great sports tradition and many wonderful programs.

well you know what will happen now that one of the rumors has come true, don't you? all the crazy newer rumors get legs and run on and on.

What is West Allegheny thinking? Do they not get the news out that way? A ship in the next dock is sinking and you reach out and hire one of the key people responsible for it going under water?

She was quoted on the Board's website, "leave behind the groundbreaking reform we have begun in PPS."

"Groundbreaking," doesn't she mean burying and putting PPS in the ground?

look out West Allegheny:

Since friend French cut music for "scorable subjects" West Allegheny could be next. Of course, maybe that is what Peters was hiring for- we dont know... but the brainwashing of Broad seems to have long legs

This is a great day for PPS.
Next to Roosevelt, the absolute worst administrator to ever sit at a desk on Bellefield Avenue is moving on.
The farce behind the 50% grading policy and forced curriculum that was a failure from day one.
The. Worst. Ever.

Perhaps the WA interview went something like this:

WA interviewer: Dr. Lippert, why should we hire you?
Dr. Lippert: I was involved in school reform.
WA interviewer: Great! We love reform! You're hired!

Here's the way the WA interview should have gone:

WA interviewer: Dr. Lippert, why should we hire you?
Dr. Lippert: I was involved in school reform.
WA interviewer: Were your reforms successful?
Dr. Lippert: Not really. But it was all the fault of the teachers.
WA interviewer: I see. Thank you for coming in. Next applicant please.

Lippert is power hungry. Really did a horrible job with the PELA program. Curriculum is the worst that I have ever. She does listen but will not give a true answer. Never should have been an admin. In PPS. She fooled many people.

Why would Nina say anything positive about this lady. Solidarity is a joke. It just shows the union does not care. Nina did not send her children through PPS with Lippert in charge. Nina should support teachers and the city way better than she does. Nina thinks it great... live outside the city and tell city residents what they need with education. Nina we are more educated and diversified than you will ever be. Please leave with your friend Jerry.

4:45 you are right. Dr. Lippert destroyed many good teachers lives. Why would Nina talk highly of Dr. Lippert in the news?/-

Did the union have an election? results?

Now one of the worst PELAs can go also. I mean the principal of Minadeo.

is she taking anyone from the reading department with her???

French took Jennifer Murphy with her. Chances are that someone will follow Lippert to WA. Keep your eyes on the Board minutes.

The question is - who will replace Lippert? Will they move someone from within or look outside PPS? What was her salary at PPS? Maybe we could have 1 less administrator and save money...

Oh, where is Otuwa? Is she still around?

Anonymous said...

Otuwa? There are at least four public meetings per month where ALL central office administrators, EXCEPT C. Otuwa are PRESENT.

Since last December, 2013, C. Otuwa has been ABSENT from ALL open-to-the-public-evening meetings! Where is she?

5507 Is she somewhere in PPS during the day? Where? Doing what?

Have there been any sightings of C. Otuwa for the past six months?

Lippert, French, Murphy...all were the worst. Clueless about how to manage a school, a classroom.....how to push student achievement further. All they were good at was pushing paper, and personal agendas.
Otuwa? Dear Lord. Haven't we been through enough?

Now is the opportunity for principals to stand up for their teachers and content pedagogy that was absent during Lippert's reign...As a former principal, I am ecstatic that teachers might be allowed to creatively adapt their lessons to meet the needs of the students they serve. That is why I chose to be a teacher and always attained great results!

10:09 Honestly I have seen her at the Macy's at Robinson as well as Walmart on two separate occasions. Both sightings gave me post traumatic flashbacks to ALA focus walks. As far as seeing her serving in any capacity as an employee of PPS, she seems to have disappeared. Do we REALLY want to find her though?

Anonymous said...

10;00, you are quite right! We really do NOT want to find her. We need a clean sweep of Central Office and that includes HR, Greenway, and all of the beautiful, bright young people who are, unfortunately, clueless, about education, teaching, learning, and preparing Pittsburgh's young people for productive futures. The future of this city cannot afford to continue a public school system without knowledgeable, experienced educators who know how to get the job done!
