This is the blog section of the PURE Reform website. Please leave your thoughts and comments here.
PURE Reform has created this blog as a forum for parents, teachers and community members to share information and voice concerns regrading the reform process in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. Although we would like to foster constructive dialogue, PURE Reform does not edit content. The views expressed by bloggers in this forum are not necessarily views held by PURE Reform.
To comment on an existing topic, go to the line at the bottom of the post for that topic that begins "Posted by..." That line will list "1 comment," "2 comments," etc. Click on "comments," then leave your comment in the box provided. To post as Anonymous, no registration is required, OR you can choose an identity.
To suggest a new topic, go to this month's post labeled "Start a New Post" and add your comment (as described above) about the new suggested topic. PURE Reform will use these comments to start new posts.

Well worth the time to watch the video. You can't help but be struck by Dr. Lane's appearance in it and what she had to say. It will make you wonder what her opinion was during the discussions leading up to the 2008 vote.
Will any school ever be able to capture the spirit of a Schenley?
Dr. Lane was coached as to what to say... Or used the testimonies of those who spoke at public hearings to come across as a reasonable, sympathetic person. If she had felt the way she spoke in the film, Schenley would already be reopened.
Linda Lane is an expert in public relations. The primary presentation is always being all things to all people. Unfortunately, there is no follow-through on leading the way to equity and excellence for all of Pittsburgh's children which would, should, could include the African-American children which constitute the majority of PPS and who have been woefully neglected by the current administration and fall far below the district's minority student population in academic achievement. After more than six years as PPS's lead educator (deputy and superintendent) there are no excuses for failing, year after year, to advance achievement in real and substantive ways.
Thank you for posting this and thank you to all of the people responsible for the documentary getting made. Unfortunately, we have too many stories like this to tell here. Soon other cities will be following our lead. This documentary could be the beginning of a new video genre, Remembering Closed Schools. Corporate media is a sham

Please. Dr. Lane was brutally loyal to the Roosevelt/Fischetti/Weiss/Broad/Gates agenda.
