As someone who was once in favor of neighborhood schools, I now think their time has passed. At the secondary level the most successful schools seem to have a specialty. Sci-Tech, CAPA, the old Schenley. It seems at the elementary level neighborhood may be a good option but beyond grade 5 diverse offerings make the neighborhood option less desirable.
