Parents and community would benefit from clarification of lockdown procedures.
Anyone who has more information about this incident, please share.
The PG reported a SWAT team called to Friendship for an eviction incident, but that was late morning...
I picked my daughter up at approx 12:30 and saw multiple police cars / vans etc all with lights flashing 1 block from the school. I noticed, walked in and picked up my daughter and left.
It seems very strange that I would hear about this lockdown incident via a phone call nearly 3 hours after I picked up my daughter and saw this transpire.
What, I wonder, made this situation more intense than what I saw at 12:30pm?
Here is the story in the Post Gazette:

No mention of Montessori going on lock-down. Attempt by the Post Gazette to avoid negative PR for PPS? This was visible from just below the school's front stairs.
The idea must be that readers are only interested in lockdowns in Wilkinsburg.
I know we bash the PG a lot here but do we really have to advertise incidents like this? For those of us who choose to live in the city and have to justify it regularly to idiotic suburban family members or friends, I'm not sure I care to have school lockdowns reported, especially if it doesn't really involve the school.
11:27, suburban school lockdowns seem to be reported at a much higher rate in the news. A lockdown shows the school is taking responsibility for keeping kids safe.
That close to any school does involve iit! I remember a certain group near Alderdice, not wanting security prescence...worrying about rwal estate values. My feeking was that security could sit on my child!s desk to keep them safe!
If the Post Gazette choses to report on lockdowns in Wilkinsburgh, Pine Richland, etc. , then there is absolutely no reason why it should not report on lockdowns within the city limits. It is the Pittsburgh Post Gazette after all.
To cherry pick incidents to avoid reporting lacks a certain standard and may be unethical. Is it a local NEWS PAPER or publicity rag?
