These are five year olds. Five year olds. Their thinking is still naive; not recognizing intent and impressionable in mimicking adults.

The harm done here is life lasting.

She was 7 and in kindergarten and assaulting teachers. I'd be more worried about the adults she lives with. How in the world are you a 7 year old kindergartener and why does a student of any age think they should assault teachers? This child most likely had a history of attacking students and teachers.

It does not matter how old this student is as well as making judgements regarding this students life or home life.

We need to stay focused on the behavior of the ADULT TEACHER in the room and not blame the child.

Regardless of the child's behaviors/issues, the adult (teacher) has no business exhibiting this type of behavior. It's probably safe to say that this teacher will be terminated. She needs to find another line of work.

The article states that the teacher was hired Nov. 23rd. Who was in the classroom from the time the school year began until Nov. 23rd? It would be interesting to know what happened to the original teacher.

In this case, does the word "teacher" mean a 4 yr. degree or is kindergarten teacher an associates degree in child care? Not being a snob but is there a distinction with early learning? Does anyone know her education background?

Does it take credentials, Doctorate or otherwise , to realize that all children are as precious as our own children or grandchildren?

12:09, all PPS teachers are certified and have at least a bachelor's degree, even those in the District's early childhood classrooms. The state has a birth - 3rd grade certification. I believe even subs need a bachelor's degree. Being credentialed and educated doesn't prevent somebody from doing awful things to children.

8:45, thank you for that explanation. I did not mean to infer educated people do not abuse children, I just thought that this class was more of a daycare setting.
I thought that the word teacher was being used fast and loose, that's all.
