Does PPS have a contract w/ a shredding company?
I have no idea, but sensitive documents should never be tossed in a dumpster. Clayton was contracted out, was proper disposal or safe record keeping a part of the contract?
Behavior reports, names, addresses and social security numbers just tossed for anyone to stumble on is inexcusable. I would be livid if my child's information was so disrespected.
KDKA report on this topic:
http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2011/06/21/clayton-academy-student-records-found-in-dumpster/
"An unidentified neighbor called KDKA-TV and said the school had been discarding confidential information about its students. The principal tells KDKA’s Jon Delano, yes, some information was put out accidentally, but all the confidential information has been retrieved."
I think the neighbor knows more than the Principal.
What is particularly disturbing is remembering a parent coming to a meeting and almost crying at the thought that her daughter was getting nothing out of Clayton. And now this.
That there is nothing on the pps website is sad. That CEP make money from PPS is sad. When were the docs removed? Obviously after the Delano report, right?
The doors to that school should be padlocked by now.
Mr. Bullard does not tapdance well. My god, it wasn't even a real dumpster.
Are you kidding me?
By the time the propaganda machine is done with this one, the Post Gazette will write an editorial about Dr. Lane's "Courage to Shred."
What is the Delano report?
Delano is the reporter from KDKA.
The best line from a page in the dumpster: ..."indescently exposed himself to a teacher by dropping his..."
If Mr. Brentley does not bring up this incident tonight at the board meeting it will be a shock.
At least the district did not have Ms. Pugh fielding the reporter's questions, thereby getting some distance between the district and the company running Clayton. Shame the students can't enjoy the same distance.
I don't recall this being brought up.
