Incidents/ Schenley-Peabody

Recently Schenley students were advised to stay out of East Liberty after school. If anyone has first hand or other credible information on incidents leading up to/ prompting this announcement the information would be much appreciated.

I had spoken to a current student at Schenstein and they were telling me that there was an announcment over the intercom that the tech students who go to Peabody will have to not wear Schenley Gear or have to turn their shirts inside out??? Is this true???

There are also reports of fights within the building that teachers/guards are not catching b/c the lines of vision in this maze-like structure are not good. Does anyone have information on whether any fights involve tensions between particular neighborhoods?

It seems like they are refusing to confirm or deny incidents and announcements.

bethoven, I heard the same thing.
Also that kids have been discouraged from going to East Liberty after school. It also might not be long before the neighbors start to complain about kids taking their parking spaces. Kids often work things out on their own in a completely peaceful way as long as adults let them.

I heard yesterday that kids would be suspended if they went to McDonalds or showed up at Reisenstein with a McD's bag. My activist child asked me to pack lunch in a McD's bag to see what would happen. Are they banned because kids have been going during school hours or immediately before school making them late? Or have there been troubles at McD's? It sure would be nice to have some info instead of rumors and speculation!

This all seems like information to be discussed at your PSCC meeting. Have you had one yet at Schenley?

The first PSCC meeting is today (Wednesday) at 6 PM so hopefully we will get some accurate information.

Your PSCC should be lively. Good luck. Looking forward to hearing accurate info on this site.

I hope to have an abbreviated version of the Schenley PSCC minutes on the blog no later than Monday. The meeting was over 2 hours long and my "official" minutes were 3 pages; much of it not really related to reform issues.
