It could be called, "10 signs of a reformed school district."

Yes, there seems to be an overlap with a post I read a while back on this blog titled "Signs your district is infected with a Broad virus"

I think I read it on this blog, maybe someone can link it. I think many of the same "symptoms" were listed.

Pittsburgh Public Schools is guilty of every sign of a failing district, and throw in cronyism, even though there are no leaders in the district. Last, the number one sign(under five years teaching experience) is the district to a tee. The union is more to blame than the district for this. To have nothing but young, inexperienced teachers in a school, or even the majority of staff being young or inexperienced, is a DISGRACE, and the district and the union deserves what it gets: "Failing District".

The principal of Uprep resigned last week.

The position is posted on the PPS employment website.

Any of the critics going to apply?

NONE of PPS schools are among PA's REWARD schools--which are the highest 5% of PA schools.

So, in short form:

PRIORITY - LOWEST 5% in State: Faison, King, Brashear, Perry, Westinghouse.

FOCUS - LOWEST 10% in State: Arsenal, Lincoln, Miller, Montessori, Spring Hill, Woolslair, Arlington, Langley, Morrow, Carrick, and Milliones,

WHOA! PPS has 16 of the LOWEST-ACHIEVING SCHOOLS out of 500! That's not good, at all! WHY? What has been going on for the last 10 years?

I'll tell you what has been going on for the last ten years. The union was paid off by the district to ACT LIKE THEY CARE, but in reality all THAT THEY CARE ABOUT are themselves, their pay, and their future. The union and the disgusting district would rather see 100 teachers fired, quit, flee, or die so that both could claim, "Look how many teachers we hired this year".

4:29-- very true-- and- the teachers, assts, etc PAY for this !

Not a peep on the $10,000 subtraction and the Pittsburgh Promise????

Mark, my peep on the promise changes may not mean much but I have seen the IdeaPod magazine and it is impressive. Has there been any mention of overhead cost cutting to ensure the future health of the program? Maybe just shrink the size of the paper.
