Questionable workshop at another district

Looks like one central office alumni is finally being outed as a charlatan. Apparently Dr. Lippert has moved on to become the superintendent of West Allegheny and parents are on the news calling for her resignation following a questionable workshop for students. Here is the link to the story

Good intentions but very misguided.

What if students were simply taught to do the kindest possible thing in the kindest possible way? And if they had to reveal something, they could (without mentioning names) talk about times they had succeeded or struggled with their efforts.

Just like French at USC, this is no surprise in terms of the character of leadership.
This is the way Lippert thinks....another way to push her agenda. No surprise here whatsoever. While I am glad that these two charlatans left Pittsburgh, I feel badly that teachers and families have to deal with them.

A great empathic and very smart Developmental Advisor commented exactly on this issue in PPS-- the whole discussion element of restorative justice program could easily border on these difficulties-- privacy, more bullying, etc. My question to the readers: if YOU are a victim of a say "work place bully" do you want to discuss their personal life- or yours???

...and amid allegations of prior knowledge of years of inappropriate teacher-student relationships, the Plum superintendent remains in his job. Go figure.

Has Pittsburgh attempted to hold that same type of assembly program in the city schools? Is that the restorative justice program 4:37 is talking about?

9:02 Yes this is Restorative Practices, but not at its finest. As a PPS teacher, I am telling you that this useless crap has been jammed down our throats for the past year. The fundamental premise of restorative practices is that students are happier, more cooperative and productive, and more likely to make positive changes when those in positions of authority do things with them, rather than to them or for them.
Obviously Dr.. Lippert did not realize that the facilitators of restorative practice circle were not producing positive changes in students, hence strengthening their community and school environment by asking very personal questions. These types of questions would put students in a lineup for more bullying and ridicule. I am sure that Dr. Lippert will deny that she had any knowledge of what types of questions the facilitators were asking, and will do what she learned at PPS when things like this happen...kill the messenger and C.Y.A..

Lippert is a "look at me administrator." She always researches for the latest "fads" within education and tries to implement these "fads" without thinking if it is a good fit for her particular district.

Lippert did the same thing at PPS. Example(s): Focusing on Results (Cost hundreds of thousands of dollars)and Focus on Results was a failure. Example 2: PELA program. This program took good teachers and made them into "robot" principals. Only two or three PELA "graduates" have been successful. Many have left the district or have been demoted back to instruction. Example 3: the "no student should receive below 50%." What a joke!!!!

I wonder if West Allegheny if finally realizing the fraud that she is and if they are having their doubts about her as a district leader. Finally, read her email that was sent to wtae. Lippert needs to go back to grammar class and learn about proper use commas. What a joke this "look at me" administrator has become.

GOOD LUCK WEST A! You will need it!

Lippert and French used PPS to feather their nest and now they are trying to run their game on the suburban schools. Apparently none of their socialist ideology will work in the other districts.

Anonymous said...

1:22 Their socialist ideology? What's that about?

Anonymous said...

To 1:22

Get a dictionary and find the definition of socialism.

Anonymous said...

To 11:41 Thanks so much for your sage advice. Using a dictionary is such a novel idea, if needed.

Let me clarify because I guess you missed the point of my question...that being...What socialist ideologies does 1:22 feel that Lippert and French espouse (need a dictionary for that term?)

BTW, my comment came in at 3:26

Whatever happened to teachers teaching the kids... All the " bullying BS" needs to be addressed I agree but teachers can't teach because " Johnny smells" and the other kids are teasing him. The teacher needs to send Johnny to counselor and tell the class to knock it off. If someone from class continues to tease then that child's parent needs to be notified and consequences need to be dealt. To stop a whole class and make the child explain what's bothering them is too much!! Our students are going to eventually leave our schools and grow up and go into the workforce and will have to learn John to handle these experiences. I know we have to provide tools but at what expense of every other child's education. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

The saga continues... I hope they do sue.

Lippert and French were two horrible administrators in PPS. Their comments and actions were not only reprehensible, but eschewed a cavalier attitude that they were untouchable, that quite literally, they could do as they pleased and there would be no recourse from higher powers, from teacher unions or from parents. Whether at Bellefield Avenue, in schools or at in service sessions in the area or afar, this was the methodology.
French's attitude about USC teachers during the strike are reminiscent of her comments about Pittsburgh teachers a few years back, many of which appeared in a PG column by Brian O'Neil, in which the two had a cup of coffee together. USC teachers are finding firsthand how it is to deal with someone who was NEVER a classroom teacher.
More pointedly, Lippert's attitude is once again on display but this time, the high hat approach has gotten the push back that she should have had in this district. No one likes arrogance, and no one likes being talked to as if they never made it out of middle school themselves. More importantly, caring, vocal parents see right through personal agendas masquerading as being on the cutting edge in a cultural sense. Nonsense.
It continues to amaze me that individuals like this--and there are others--were able to leave PPS and attain prestigious jobs with prestigious pay when it is clear that neither
had the wherewithal to administer a school district equitably, let alone helm one. Here were two individuals that were part of a cabal that deemed teachers as the problem in urban education, that sought to take teachers out of the daily classroom instruction via a poorly scripted curriculum which preached political correctness first, that devised the ridiculous 50% grading policy and that applauded the RISE witch hunt that still goes on.

Why is none of this a surprise?

Lippert did not personally look at the questions before the workshop.
“I didn't personally look at the questions ahead of time, I trusted the team,” said Lippert. “It's a national age appropriate model, and my concern now moving forward is a more inclusive process with parents, other administrators and parents, even students.”

Too late - the horse has left the barn.

Did you see in the NFL that the recent coach of the Eagles who had a hard time with a number of players, like ex-Pitt star, Shady, got hired as the new coach of the S.F. 49ers. Go figure.

Point being, some folks are seemingly lucky as hell, or something.

Oh well.

I think the poster means Peters SD for French, not USC. It is unthinkable to me that Lippert did not review the questions, btw. Well, I bet she will fire the entire "team" over this. I am aghast.

PPS is looking for a new supintendent.....wonder if lippert will come back to PPS if she is forced out of west a.....hmmmm....

These kinds of things are what make Pittsburgh the "Most Leavable City"

Anonymous said...

Given Lippert asked these same questions of staff - who is from one parent home, whose parent didn't go to college, who had financial hardship- these are her kind of questions, self righteous hypocrite, sorry for a West A

Maybe Ms. Lippert should answer the same questions for the students that she claims she never read.

This PERVERSE workshop is another example of how any leader from the PITTSBURGH PUBLIC SCHOOLS can destroy everything in its path, and I do mean everything. Look at the facts: Lippert leaves the district, and within a few years she allows something so ugly to occur, decorum will not allow me to augment. The scary aspect of this incident is-as noted in many of the excerpts above-is that Pittsburgh Public Schools is PROMOTING THE SAME type of workshop: crop circles. These are crop circles, because only could aliens conjure up something so insane, so diabolical, and so destructive to students and teachers. I can guarantee anyone here that Lippert either thought of this mind-boggling workshop by herself(without looking at the questions), she copied the "RESTORATIVE PRACTICE" model from PPS, or Linda Lane copied it from Lippert; you know if a=b, and b=c, then a=c. HOWEVER, THE BIG "E
goes to the union, who is still making Pittsburgh Public School teachers get their students into crop cirles. Hey, Nina, Billy Boy, and Howie, where are our masks?

Anonymous said...

The previous post is spot-on. The only thing to add is that Lippert probably collaborated with the other former PPS freeloader French! Did you say union? There is no union just like there is no Bigfoot!

Anonymous said...

She got off easy- same as when she was at PPS

Anonymous said...

She will not get off easy, not this time. This isn't over. When I'm done Lipperts going to wish I was as stupid as she thinks.
