I see Cate Reed has a candidate in the race. Alternative fact, the $250 filing fee is a "loan."

Sala Udin went NUTS to battle Dr. Hamlet upon his arrival and was way out of bounds in the process. He didn't make much sense to me. Putting him on the board, despite his recent pardon from outgoing Presiden Obama, is a sure fire way to get into lots and lots of political wrangling, spotlight grabbing and cronyism. Sala has had his day in the sun and chances to grab the helm, but we seemed to drain thousands of fellow citizens throughout those years.

Now, please introduce the challengers in all the races.

Here are the challengers - what we know so far.

"Sala Udin has had his day in the Sun." Amen.

We do not elect individuals to public office to make decisions independent of citizens' input.
We elect them to represent us - to act and speak for us. We should expect and, indeed, demand no less when it comes to every single decision related to the education of our kids.

Where were our voices when the Wilson itinerants and the Early Literary Specialists were cut?

Citizens elect school boards to make educational decisions based on evidence brought to them.
Citizens do not make decisions about every decision made. School boards -- not just ours!-- weigh the information, results etc. There are always program changes within districts as they work to find the right method for the students of their district. I'm sure the seasoned professionals will be working next year in other capacities. Note: there was no public input when keyboarding in elementary school, Latin, clothing, foreign languages in many schools, etc. was cut.

What we know so far isn't nearly enough. I won't hold my breath waiting for the P-G to do its duty as watchdogs. I'd love to be surprised, soon, with real reporting and vibrant races.

Vibrant races need vibrant candidates and at first glance their introduction by the Post Gazette is a bit of a yawn.

2:44 where were the taxpayers and teachers when Dr. Lane would suggest that a quick way to make budget work was to get rid of librarians- all while praising them to their faces? Where are the parents when there are no nurses in buildings- other than for sports physicals, and mediation is given by office staff, and when office staff is out.... If we are to retain students, we need a fully operational school.

To the Questioner:
To not include comments that address the need for the public to take an active role in the development of policy and practices that impact the education of our children defeats the whole purpose of this forum.

Please clarify- did you send a comment that was not posted? So that a missing comment can be located it is always good to include the day and time the comment was sent.

Could the names and contact info on all the candidates be posted here? Email and phone and websites, of course.
