Promises to Schenley at Reizenstein; Frick 9th Grade

What is your take on the promises made to the Schenley family? Is the administration doing a decent job of following through on what has been promised? Is transportation working? How about sports and activities? What about our freshman class at Frick?

They don't seem to be connected to Schenley/high school activities other than sports. Can't seem to get much info there about what's going on after school for HS and they also seem to still be "planning to have" clubs/activities there. Thought the planning was going to be finished...and implemented by now. They're only there for a year, it's now or never!

It seems like all clubs are going to be during "QRT" time at Schenley -- so the 9th graders at Frick won't be able to get there for them. So much for having time to be part of a high school experience.

What is "QRT" time? The Frick setup reminds me of my 7-9 junior high, which most districts have abandoned for various reasons. As for clubs and activities- these are so important for college admission and 9th grade is really necessary for students to try out different things and see where they fit in, esp if they are submitting early decision applications at the end of 11th grade. Parents will need to compensate w/ out-of-school activities.

QRT = quality resource time, I think. Sort of like school wide study hall, but you can go to clubs, meetings then?

Does the district offer any parent "ninth grade nation" training? I say district rather than building because then every school/every parent has the opportunity to hear the SAME info.
