Hearing on Monday re: closing of Rooney

From the PG:

- Beyond Rooney is the issue of continued piecemeal closings without an overall equitable, logical and comprehensive plan for schools and where they will be located.

From the PG: "Few have comments about Rooney closing"

Now why would that be?

Possibilities:

- The "public hearing" was held 4 days before Christmas in a location inconvenient to Rooney families.

- People doubt that there is any real interest in what they have to say or that their comments can make a difference

- People agree with the decision to close Rooney (belying the frequent comment that "everyone just wants to save their own school."

We will probably never know.

Rooney is being used as something else. It isn't 'closing' (as in going empty) -- just getting a different group of students.

Yep, it certainly is that time of year when attentions are turned to pressing matters like shopping and cooking. Public hearing attendance is impacted. Fewer callers to talk shows. Less people commenting on blogs.

Happy Holidays everyone.
