Loss of librarian positions is being attributed to a tight budget. But, at the same time, many assert that administrative positions are mushrooming, and that increasingly large sums are being paid to consultants.

To assess the situation a closer look at just where money is going, and how allocations compare to allocations 5 and 10 years back, is needed.

Perhaps the district should spend less money on sending colorful over-sized post cards to households everytime the are recognized for an improvement or accomplishment. The GREAT SCHOOLS RANKS TOP 10 was the last one we received and we were grateful to see the message about Teacher Appreciation Week. Would there have been a post card reminding us about Teacher Appreciation Week if it weren't for needing to talk about the Ranking? Could these mailings be paid for by grant money?
