But this may not be the last we hear; apparently he can now bring a lawsuit.

Anonymous said...

Yes he will. And he will get paid. It sure took them long enough (and enough money)to reach a decision. They waste more of our tax dollars.

What the heck? Can someone please explain Ms. Hazuda's "retirement" wishes comment? Is that what it is called when someone is fired these days?

Anonymous said...

She is clueless. No wonder the Board members move along like sheep herded by Lane and Co.

We lost a good man.Noy only did he care about the students he cared about his staff.he did his job well and now whatch the safety department fall apart.it is a sad day for all who have worked for him.

90K?!! 33years later I make approx. 87!

And, I have seen his dept. @ work.
They need to be more professional as a department.

Poor decision! The community needs to voice our disgust by not voting for any current Board Member who voted yes to Fadzen's firing. Our school's are falling apart as PELA's and Central Office Administrators refuse to acknowledge appropriate interventions, alternatives and consequences for disruptive student behaviors.

Fadzen let it be known when principals failed to enforce the Code of Conduct or follow through with court action for criminal offenses. It's a sad day for PPS and your child when the safety of children is compromised by principals who fail to keep an orderly school environment just to get an added bonus for keeping suspension rates low. REMEMBER YOUR VOTE COUNTS!

Anon 1:49 you made your career choice and he made his and for you to think it was all about the money shame on you.He cared about the children and his staff .He went by the book of the law and was punished for it by the pps admistration .So to all the people who are happy he is gone ,wait to you see what the so called acting chief will do .NOTHING and she don't care about the kids or the staff. She is all about the 90,000 k

Anonn 1:49 please don't judge all the people in the safety department some do care and work but the ones who s..k up to the the acting chief get away with doing nothing

Ira Weiss is quoted in the newspaper article today that the hearing cost $80,000. HA! Per lawyer maybe!!!
Fadzen asked for the hearing because he was entitled to it and nobody ever stood up to them. Weiss said he will get his pension...that's because Lane and Fischetti wanted his pension...for what...he wasn't charged with a felony. What a joke!
PPS is a laughing stock in Pittsburgh.
We lost a good decent man who cared about the children of Pittsburgh and the staff in the schools. His comment quoted in the article “I’m obviously disappointed by the decision, and I want to thank the city of Pittsburgh for giving me the honor and the privilege of protecting and serving the children of Pittsburgh for 17 years,” Fadzen said when reached after the vote" was a classy thing to say. Shows character. He will be missed by many in the trenches of PPS schools. We wish you the best!

I totally agree with 8:46-- he knew too much and had way too much class for this regime

pps police officer is under investagation for touching a student and the pps admistration suspended him with pay and all fadzen did was pull some one over and he got no pay.what is wrong with this pitchure.i wonder how long pps admistration knew about this and why is it only comming out now.

Anonymous said...

Did any one here of a pps police officer being investagated and for what.I wonder if this is another incendent that the pps was trying to swept under the rug and got caught.O by the way why was he suspended with pay and fadzen was not .

Anonymous said...

Has that been in the news? I haven't heard anything about it.

Was Fazden in paid or unpaid administrative leave? This article states he was on paid...

This article from WPXI says that he was put on unpaid suspension in November of 2011.

And yes, apparently a School Police officer is being investigated for sex assault.

Back in the day when the officer touched the child, the officer got 20 days paid suspension!!! And they let him go back into the schools.
They knew...

Anonymous said...

Can any one see a sandusky investagation trickling down to the pps and what the admistration knew about it for years and did nothing like penn state.

This story is bigger than you think.

The officer in question was Roosevelt's driver and bodyguard.

Anonymous said...

Is there anyone in administration or on the school board from 10 years ago?

Anonymous said...

WTF? Why would Roosevelt need a driver and a bodyguard?

Anonymous said...

All superintendents receive a driver.
The recommendation was that they be changed every 3 months to avoid alot of issues. However, MR requested that particular officer and they were inseparable for the entire time MR was here.

Anonymous said...

yes the driver for suoperintendent has to be "weapons certfified"

There are several Board Members who were around when the incident was reported. I believe Isler, Fink, Colaizzi, Brentley and McCrea were Board Members. Just remember that Chief Fadzen tried to get this investigated by Pgh Police but someone in Central Office/Board stopped it dead in its tracks. Three months later after it's reporting, Pgh Police Investigator, Gwen Elliot said that after 3 months the accusation could not be confirmed. The School Police Officer wasn't talking on advice from his lawyer and the Rooney student couldn't be located and the student's written statement was lost. Hum, wonder why the student decided to come forward so many years later?

As for Chief Fadzen, he got a raw deal in terms of his firing. He always tried to do the right thing for the students. I venture to say because he has lots of knowledge regarding PPS cover-ups that's why he had to go. Central Office Administrators like to put a spin on things or put spotlight others just to keep the focus off of them.

I wonder who will be the escape goat for this? Clearly the Human Relations Officer, Spolar should be called into question. Someone else will take the fall because being an insider for so many years she has so much dirt on Central Administrators they dare not offer her up as the sacrificial lamb.

How many school districts provide a personal police officer for the superintendent? PPS has 24K students and the geograhical area is not widespread. I really don't understand the need for this. How often did Roosevelt visit schools? Nevermind, I know the answer! Rarely.

As far as holding someone accountable PPS will pull a RMoney and retroactively blame Fazden. It won't matter anyway, it will get very little press.

Officers remember to smile and just get through the day.

Anonymous said...

We will and thank you.

Anonymous said...

the Chauffeur/security officer has been weapons certified at least since the Dr. Wallace administration. Apparently, there were threats back when schools would close etc. and people blamed the superintendent.

I think that we should be able to bid on the schools we want by seniority.? It is fair and eliminates favoritism and dislike!

Anonymous said...

Anon 6:33 .I will say this one more time.Do the job they hired you to do and stop complaining .We are all thankful to have a job .If you are angry and don't like the school you are in QUIT,because you are not getting any where on this blog by complaining .We do not want complainers in our dept. You must not work or get along with others for you to be in a middle school by your self. The two in charge know what they are doing when they place people ,and they know wich ones work and wich ones do not work.

This is what I mean by dislike or punishment and it is wrong! If you had Officers bid on schools by seniority it would eliminate this abuse and politics! The Commanders do not back any of us!

Anonymous said...

Anon 11:22 Yes do do back us ,if you WORK.

Anonymous said...

Sounds like a lockdown on communications. "At least you have a job". Hang on to that when you get offered minnimum wage and limited benefits.

Be proud of what you do.

Anonymous said...

No they do not back us - I work!

Anonymous said...

Anon 10:52 if you work and are getting paid then why are you complaining .There are a lot of people out there that would love to have your job and yes the commanders do back us.If you have a legitimate complaint ,go and complain to them not on here ,you are not getting anywhere on this blog. They are at the belfield base and have a complaint box in the dispatch room just leave you name and number and they will handle your complaint in the order if was received .

Anonymous said...

No backing us is going by seniority and not politics! Seniority gets rid of politics! A few of us called the Union and they should be going by Seniority for everything!

I am in a middle school and these kids are so bad! They kick, bite, and scream. I am a Security Officer not a phych doctor. Every time they hand them to security!
