The athletic thread just would not format correctly...

Sometimes people take a "summer break" from thinking about schools. Let's return from our breaks refreshed and ready to discuss.

Robert Scheerer, the Sci-Tech principal resigned. I thought that was one school doing well? Where is he going?

Robert Scherrer resigned for personal reasons. He is being replaced by Shawn McNeil (Provisional director of Sci-Tech) who is now the new principal. Wasn't Shawn McNeil one of the former Westinghouse principals who was relieved of his duties there? I'll bet that Scherrer is going to a suburban school that is more "settled" than any PPS school.

The video of the high school principals congratulating graduates was so well done I watched it twice. I was struck by how a few principals were beaming, Sherrer was one of those.

You guessed it, North Allegheny's gain---and yes, local suburban schools have great respect for PPS teachers and administrators and appreciate their skills.

N.A. in what position?

Has anyone followed the State budget?

Wow...two school districts in MONROE County received bigger basic ed funding increases than Pittsburgh. Memo to Allegheny County contingent and Ronald Joseph: don't pass yourself off as a distressed school district following a fiscal year where fund balance grew.

No less than 10 school districts in the Commonwealth saw a larger increase in basic education subsidy: Philadelphia, Allentown, York, Upper Darby, Lancaster, Reading, Pocono Mountain, Stroudsburg Area, Hazleton Area, and Lebanon.

Doesn't Pittsburgh use the services of one of those $400-$500/hour law firms for lobbying and specialized litigation, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney?

If so, how did they get left standing on the sidelines?
