The spin machine has gone into overdrive.

Black students' PSSA scores are up, white students' PSSA scores are up, everyone's scores are up. To take into account effects such as changes in the test, the A+ comparison of the Pittsburgh/state gap for African American students versus the Pittsburgh/state gap for white students seems more useful.

Look, we might as well admit it now. Depending on the source of the analysis and the methods used results have many interpretations.

At the same time we need to prevent "different interpretations" from muddying the water so much that there is no accountability. If we look carefully at the various interpretations, some will emerge as more valid than others.

Questioner, you're joking, right? These people will take any piece of statistical info and spin it in such a way that looks positive. "We" can't do much about it, as long as the Joe Smydo's of the world fail to ask tough questions.
Oh, and as far as PSSA scores going up is concerned, we owe it all the to the principals. They are the ones doing God's work. It's all the principals. Is there any way to give them more of a raise?
