Schenley petition reaches 600

The goal now is 1000.

Those who want to know whether information about the extent of asbestos was withheld from Board members and the public prior to the vote to close; the cost of the temporary move to Reizenstein; and an updated estimate for a basic renovation of Schenley should contact their Board members, city council members and other elected officials, share the petition and comments and ask them to sign on.

And be sure to thank those elected officials who have had the guts to speak up and sign: State Sen Jim Ferlo, County Council members Barbara Danko and Bill Robinson, and School Board members Mark Brentley Sr and Regina Holley.

Take a look at some of the recent comments. Have you ever seen that kind of applause for any other PPS school or program, except maybe the old Westinghouse? It makes no sense to toss the best because it is not perfect; instead, work to become even better.

Lately it seems that this blog has "devoted" itself to the Schenley issue while the school district continues to move backwards. There are other important issues happening right now. I understand you want to get the behind the scenes info on how the Schenley thing went down. Obviously Mark Roosevelt was behind the Schenley deal, but he has flown the coop while the getting was good. No one is going to go after him. Let's move on and investigate the present dealings. Schenley is a done deal.

Anyone who would like to start a new topic is welcome to do so. LOL at the idea that Mark is behind the Schenley not a done deal.

Beyond the enormous value of Schenley itself, the former superintendent's decision to close Schenley stands out for many as a turning point in PPS history. At this point it becme clear that we were facing new and divisive tactics, a serious decrease in transparency, and almost total disregard for community opinion.
