Has anyone received any information about the new STEAM magnet school at Woolslair? How in the world do they expect families to know that Woolslair will have this great program next year when it's not even on the PPS website? "

Central Catholic's STEM initiative out performs anything PPS could put together at Woolslair. PPS knows this. Why shine a light on it?

An interesting initiative would be the prospect of Districts such as PPS and Wilkinsburg, partnering with Central Catholic's STEM in a way that is new, relevant and visionary.(?)

What goes Central Catholics HS STEM program have to do with STEAM programming at Woolslair elementary school? They're not even for the same population of kids. (Age wise)

And furthermore, Central is a private school for boys only.

I can see how disconcerting this is to the community. Golly, can anyone remember the hooplah the year before Sci-tech actually opened its doors? If I recall correctly, senior staff had been named and it was talked about at every opportunity. It almost seems like this blog forum should be useful to CO or they should at least be making better use of the district facebook page, which is mostly used as a reporting mechanism of recent events. In some neighborhoods there are interested community members who would come to performances or special events but the school's calendar is blank. On the STEAM school, what's the plan Stan?

Calendar leaves much to be desired. This happened when school tech people lost control of websites and calendars. All districts have calendars-- look a few up. It seems other districts think activities such as Keystone testing, SAT testing, ACT testing etc are things that they whole school community should know. Perhaps adults in the communoty should know.

The current principal is a poor choice. A new principal before a new school.
