Parent survey

On the February "Start a new post," Anonymous wrote:

The survey that is sent to parents of PPS students each year appears to be even more leading than usual. Questions are still worded to get a certain response not to really find out anything. There is no space for any other comments this year. The money spent on paper, postage and creation of the survey may be better spent on the students. Seems to be another example of pretending to give the parents a voice.

There are so many issues where we would like to get real information on parent views. Too bad they didn't take suggestions for questions.

No space for comments. Some schools have very active PTO, PTA and PSCCs. One would assume that even if a person's time is limited to only participating at the school level, comments made in building meetings are carried to upper management. If not why would we bother holding PSCC meetings?

Unfortunately comments made in individual buildings stay right there! Forums like EFA meetings and public hearings should be used for parental input if the district really cared who said what. They (the district) are still trying to find a definition for Parent Engagement that will fit their needs. Really, how hard is this???

Speaking of spending money...we seem to see a lot of money spent on pretty brochures like the newest announcing/promoting the new literature offering. At the recent legislative meeting Mr. Brently mentioned schools facing staff cuts. Allocations seem more and more out of balance.
