"The Public Hearing Show"

A new program on PCTV features the presentations by speakers at the monthly Pittsburgh Public Schools public hearing.  Future shows will add a discussion about the presentations and interviews relevant to the topics discussed.  The intent is for these presentations to reach a wider audience than those who are able to actually attend the hearings in person, and so encourage more people to come out and speak.

Air dates for  "The Public Hearing Show," which presents speakers at the September 22, 2014 hearing, are as follows on PCTV (Comcast Channel 21 and Verizon Channel 47).  The show will also be available on You Tube at a later time.

First air date for The Public Hearing Show is tonight, 7:00, cable channel 21 or 47.

At the September public hearing topics included a proposed memorandum of understanding with A+ Schools to manage parent leadership positions at schools; the need to move quickly on the question of STEAM magnet designation for Woolslair; issues at North Side schools; and issues involving the change to new PPS phone numbers.

I taped from Verizon and only got the video. Everyone did look very nice though.

I posted previously about a budget item a few years ago regarding Mark Brentley. They added funds for PCNC and I questioned the reason. We have a city channel, 13 that has plenty of air space so I don't think we needed to pay PCNC for anything. I tried to find this line item in the budget but couldn't locate it.
Does anyone know if and why we spend any money on this redundancy? This does not seem to be a cost that we need to incur.

The Public Hearing Show is filmed and produced by volunteers and aired free of charge by PCTV. The district pays to have other Board proceedings such as agenda and legislative review filmed but apparently has never considered public hearings to be as important. The Public Hearing Show is filmed and produced by volunteers and aired free of charge by PCTV. Thanks questioner,
How much do we pay and in this time of tax increases is this really necessary?

How much do we pay for what?

I understood that there is some payment that PPS makes to PCNC for something.
Am I to understand that no money at all changes hands? We do have channel 13 for our government access for free. I remember Mr Brentley proposing and receiving an approval for funds to PCNC.

No money changes hands for The Public Hearing Show.

PPS needs to pay something in connection with its agenda and legislative meetings, but it might be more for filming and production services rather than air time.

ok, so I tune in on Oct.9 at 10am to catch this PPS hearing and they have nothing but a repetitive programming loop! Shame on them!
What a junk channel and waste of money. They need to be looked into.

No it is not their fault- there is a technical problem with the sound transfer that they are working to correct. Once the sound is restored the program will be aired.

Thank you kindly for your help. I was finally able to catch this broadcast. I'm very interested in the Woolslayer discussion. Can you tell me where I can dig into this issue deeper?
