PPS often schedules public meetings during school vacation weeks. Many families are out of town or have visitors during vacation weeks.

How well a scheduled meeting works depends on what the kids at home need. I always welcomed meetings where I did not have to sit wondering if homework was being done in my absence or if kids were bathed on time and ready for bed when I got home.

Possible future feeder patterns may be discussed. There will probably be PPS staff in attendance too.

It is also the first night of Passover, but maybe they feel there are no Jewish families in the South region.

I'll be somewhat amazed about PPS staff being in attendance. I'm a little wary of the upcoming plans for high schools. I'm wondering if we are going to see the decimation of schools like we did at the middle school level a few years back.
I tend to think bad things are in the wind, and I'd be surprised if this bunch tips their hand.

I went.

3 principals atteneded: 1 HS, 1 middle (or was it a k-8) and one elem.

1 staffer (Mark Conner, parent engagement)

2 board members,

1 member of Pgh City Council = T. Smith.

Nice turnout. Good info, be it long-winded. Nice treats and snacks.

About 3 years ago there were three afterschool clubs at Brashear HS. Now there are 20+. The numbers are hard to fathom. Way to go Mr. V. Brashear is holding its 2nd consecutive HS Musical this year this spring (Charlie Brown). Lucy!

A shuttle runs every 10 minutes from the South Hills Junction to the school until 9:30 am. Then it is every 30 minutes or else when needed. Often the kids call the HS for a ride if they arrive at a different time. A school bus / van is always at the ready to take kids to and from the T-stop.
