Other speakers at the hearing were parents of a CAPA student who felt that PPS offers adequate opportunities for parents to be involved in decision making and felt that the contract should be extended; a Schenley parent who spoke very movingly about the lack of opportunities for 11th and 12th graders at the Reizenstein location; a CAPA grandparent who spoke about inadequacies in the costume department at CAPA and the lack of response she had received from the many administrators, etc. she had contacted; representatives from the Pittsburgh Promise and the Pittsburgh Foundation in favor of a contract extension; and members of the NAACP stating that the district's support for a state graduation exam is contra to the studies that have been done on this topic.

Also the director of A+ Schools spoke about school board governance and urged a reasoned and wise decision on the proposed contract extension.

Let's go out on a limb and urge -- urge -- a reasoned and wise decision. Wishing upon a star is just as sweet.

Perhaps I should request the full testimony.
