I know someone that was in there. It was frustrating, there was hardly any news on it.

Channel 4 just did a lead in for the 10 pm news. A shot dog story and James Harrison were mentioned before Peabody.

Trbune, reporting that the incident began with a group of young men arguing:

Continuing to focus on this incident, which did not happen during school hours, only serves to further the fear that has prevented East Liberty from shaking off its negative reputation through the years. That is what all the positive developments have been battling. Let's move on.

The incident happened about 16 hours ago and we still don't know the details.

Unless an incident occurs IN a PPS building or ON PPS property or started in/on either, can't reporters work a little harder to find a significant landmark to attach to a story?

They would have needed to mention Peabody anyway, since the school was on lockdown and there was concern about whether a gunman tried to enter the school. And of course as parents our number one priority is safety, and and incidents occuring soon after school lets out and close to a school are of great concern.

WPXI is now reporting that at least 2 of the 3 victims are current Peabody students.

The person I know that was in the gym, (an adult) said it was a bit intimidating at first. They didn't know if the gunmen had entered the school. I was calling to offer news updates and I had no information to pass on until 5 and that is when they were able to leave.

They were impressed at the response in terms of protection and large firearms. The police did a good job.

It is unreal to me that 3 kids were shot so close to the school in broad daylight. How far away is the 400 block of Beatty st. From the high school? A couple of these kids are students, I hope there is no retaliation.

Just last week there was the large fight at Westinghouse a couple of blocks from school, soon after school let out.

It seems like there need to be some extra police patrols in the blocks around the high schools during the hour or so after school ends.

THREE kids were shot by TWO kids broad daylight, 30 minutes after school was over within 1-2 blocks of the school, then ran towards the school. TWO of the kids were students, and TWO were ex students. If they shot the kids in the parking lot it would be more dangerous, simply because it is on school grounds?

That is a concern and ignoring it won't make it safer or better.

Progress is being made with the investigation, and the school surveillance tape appears to be helping:
